Provence style living room
How to create a living room interior in the style of Provence?
The French are hospitable and cheerful people. But really, why not be pleased, treating guests with a glass of wine from their own vineyard. The corresponding living room, decorated in a traditional Provence style, will give greater pleasure to this process.
This style - a native of the villages of the south-west of France, in which each house made out simply, but not without the world-famous French grace. Its main features - simplicity and sophistication, even in details, make it universal, thanks to which this style will harmoniously fit into any home interior in different corners of the earth.

Character traits
Among the features that the living room interior in Provence style must contain in itself, we can single out:
- the predominance of calm, pastel colors;
- preference for natural materials;
- the effect of decay;
- flower motive;
- abundance of decor.
A distinctive feature of this style will be the effect of antiquity, which is achieved by scuffing, irregularities and easy neozhesannost. The Provence style living room will be replete with natural materials, as well as playful colors, reminiscent of bright alpine meadows in color. In it, everything will be subject to the laws of “rustic elegance,” so each thing, seemingly even completely useless, will work for the overall atmosphere of happiness and serenity.

Color spectrum
Provence assumes pronounced colors, which seem to have added a drop of white paint. Pastel shades, calm in themselves, will be complemented by purple, emerald, turquoise, deep blue, with the only condition that they will be whitened, as if apologizing to their richness.
In the design of the walls and ceilings of the living room are clearly used light, as if burned out in the sun, colors. Whether it be wallpaper or simple paint, it should be milky, light blue, pale lavender or bleached olive green. Taking into account that dark beams usually pass through the ceiling, it is desirable that it was initially very light, the choice in favor of white would be ideal.
Also in the interior still may be terracotta, emerald or ultramarine. This applies to additional decor: photo frames, blankets, pillows, chairs, napkins on the table, etc.

Finishing materials
Natural themes dominate the Provence style, and materials for decoration are no exception. The floors here will be necessarily of natural materials, most often it is wood or masonry. And even if the premises will be immediately after the repair, it will be necessary to age the floor artificially. For example, the tile will be with slightly hewn edges, uneven joints and in some places even broken edges. And the wooden floor will be either slightly hewn or painted in a calm color.
The ceiling will be very light, whitewashed or painted white. Often massive, unprocessed wooden beams will pass through it. Sometimes they can be painted the color of the ceiling to make the interior of the living room lighter and more positive.
The walls will be either covered with wood, of course, aged or painted in pastel color, or covered with the same wallpaper. They can be either light monophonic or with slightly contrasting stripes. The most popular wallpaper option is, of course, a floral pattern. In this case, the color of the small details on the wallpaper will be combined or match with the decor elements.

Decor
As decorations, the design of the living room in the style of Provence will include all sorts of figurines, knitted napkins, cups and plates placed in all places. Also in the course will go all sorts of small and cute little things: candlesticks, small watercolors on the walls, as well as irreplaceable mini-vases with dried bouquets of wildflowers. Examples of decorative elements can be seen in the following photo.

Another feature of the interior will be the abundance of textiles. It will be on the table in the form of a tablecloth with a floral pattern, and on the covers for the chairs, and on the curtains. Provence loves light, so there will be light, weightless curtains on the windows, which will never be pushed in during the daytime. In general, the windows should be open, it is considered customary for the French. So it will be more comfortable for both guests and owners of the house. In the mornings they will let in invigorating fresh air, and in the evenings they will cool slightly.
Furniture
For Provence will be acceptable and completely organic furniture, reflecting the old days. In some places, shabby wood, pens and peeling paint are just what you need. For the living room, the presence of a large wooden dining table, chairs with soft covers made of simple coarse cloth, a sofa with floral or other cute upholstery and an abundance of pillows will be mandatory. A cozy wicker rocking chair with a blanket will also be useful. From additional furniture, you can select a sideboard made of wood, in which photographs, sets and other knickknacks will be displayed. Not be superfluous and the presence of a fireplace, in front of which will be a chair and a small table.

In general, the Provence style living room can appear in any home. Despite the already finished walls and the availability of furniture, any interior can be artificially aged and add a couple of additional elements inherent in this style.
