English-style kitchen interior - photo ideas of modern
Long since English style in any interior designated aristocracy, refinement and wealth.
This interior looks and is expensive, it is designed to surprise and amaze. But in the 21st century, the pomp of Victorian interiors in English kitchens was replaced by a bias in practicality and functionality.
Now in England in the fashion kitchen in the style of shaker. The name of the style is obliged to a religious community, whose members professed to abandon all unnecessary, superfluous, at least some hint of beauty. Their motto is simplicity and modesty.
Such are the shaker-style kitchens: wood sets, usually cherries, birch or maple, no carving, just simple rectangular frames, inconspicuous functional metal handles. The facades are painted in a very light pastel color - blue, gray, coffee, olive, sand.
Since after painting, grinding and polishing the surfaces of kitchen cabinets takes place, they look worn and old in the “finished” form, sometimes after all work the patina is applied to the furniture. So artificial aging is also a trend of modern English kitchens.
Proper zoning in the kitchen
The area between the table top and wall cabinets in the headset (the so-called apron) is trimmed with tiles like brickwork, and railings and hooks are often added to conveniently place the dishes.
There are no glass inserts on the doors of kitchen cabinets, the top of the headset can be trimmed with a cornice.
The sink should be large and deep, made of ceramics, and the tabletop is preferably made of stone. Sometimes this kitchen is decorated with an exhaust hood with side awnings over the stove, it turns out like an imitation stove. In many ways, these kitchens are similar to country-style kitchens, but they look more respectable.
Furniture in modern kitchens can be placed in such a way that there is an “island” in the middle of the room. It can be a cabinet with a worktop and drawers, or a cooktop hob and oven, in which case a hood is placed above the “island”.
And also in the middle of the room you can put a dining area, which should consist of a massive table made of natural wood with a round tabletop and the same chairs with soft seats.
Making curtains in the kitchen in the English style
Horizontal blinds or curtains can be hung on the windows. Typical English curtains should be sewn from natural materials such as flax and cotton and have the appropriate ornament and pattern - small flower, tartan, etc.
The color of the curtains should match the overall color of the kitchen, that is, pastel colors are possible, or, conversely, bright fabrics to add contrast to the interior. The type of curtains can be chosen from the options:
London curtain. It is a rectangle of dense fabric, on the seamy side of which a cord is stretched in a vertical direction so that when the cord is tightened, the curtain pulls up and on the sides puffs are formed, and long wavy folds below.
Blind cafe. Another name is grandma's window. These are the curtains fixed on the cornice in the middle of the window or slightly higher.
The simplest finish is chosen for the floor - a single-color matte tile of light colors or a laminate without patterns. Ideally, if you can do an imitation of untreated wood. The walls can also not even stick wallpaper, it is enough to paint with light paint.
Traditions of modern English interior in the kitchen
In contrast to the classic English style, which is famous for its abundance of decor, modern English cuisine is notable for its modesty. Of the decorations, there are only a wall clock, a fruit basket and a couple of small paintings on the wall, as a rule, black and white photographs.
The tribute to the traditions of the British give, using tableware from porcelain and earthenware, made in their homeland. And for cooking, brass or copper furniture is also preferred.
And still in the English tradition, the use of local lamps for lighting the room has been preserved.
So, in the kitchen you can hang a small wrought-iron chandelier over the cooking zone, and let the dining area be lit with a few sconces. It would not be superfluous if the patterns of lamp shades and sconces will overlap with the overall color of the kitchen interior and a rare decor.
Note that the style of modern English cuisine is appropriate both in the apartment and in a country house, and it also combines with other style elements. For example, Russian motifs look great in this interior — Gzhel sets, painted Zhostovo trays, and Khokhloma elements.
