Basics of Gothic Style in Apartment Design

Each of us played bold knights and beautiful princesses in childhood, but then we grow up, the fairy-tale adventures end, life becomes ordinary and routine. Where did the gothic style come from

Gothic style originated in Western Europe in the 13th century, first in the architecture of buildings, and a little later in the design of the rooms inside. Gothic furniture

In its striving upward, the Gothic style in the interior is not limited to the shape of the windows or the ceiling. All the furniture in the room, even the doorways have an elongated, pointed shape. Wooden details are covered with artful carving, which sometimes turns into a slit and looks like elegant wooden lace with church motifs, interlacing arches, turning into arcades or clear geometric fragments. Double-wing wardrobes, bookshelves and cupboards on high legs with panels, chairs that look more like medieval thrones with high backs and hard seats. The interior of the apartment in the style of Gothic must be present large wooden chests, trunks decorated with bronze rivets, sometimes covered with leather. In the Middle Ages, wardrobe trunks placed near the walls often served as benches, stove benches or even tables. Mandatory attribute, especially in the bedrooms - is a screen. The wide beds, located on the dais, are decorated with twisted columns in the corners, equipped with canopies that will protect you from drafts on a cold night. Door panels and furniture are massive, but they gain lightness and elegance due to the patterned pattern of the thread. Color stereotypes are not for Gothic

Many people think that the interior in the Gothic style implies a dark, dark tones and uniformity of forms. But this is not at all the case. In the Gothic, rich colors of red, brown, blue, green and yellow shades are used. For a skilled designer, it’s quite realistic to decorate your apartment in white or beige tones, while fully retaining the Gothic style in the interior. Walls should be monotonously painted, without any pattern, can be used for upholstering velvet or cloth. Draperies are welcome. They are decorated with bright tapestries on fabric or wood, mosaic with a classic image of a trefoil, a rose, a lily or a crucifer. The whole room can be decorated in the Gothic style, but at the same time each room will have a completely individual design, character and mood.
