Head Start

Comprehensive early childhood development program with strong family support component for low-income children.  The programs in Seattle serve specific geographic areas, BUT families may choose to enroll children in a program out of their geographic area if they wish.  If they do, they need to provide transportation.  See appendix for detailed descriptions of geographic areas.  Locations of centers for each Head Start provider are listed below.

NOTE: At this income level would qualify only if child meets special exceptions, including participation previously in Head Start, special needs or family receiving TANF services

Native Americans based AM & PM preschool program located in Discovery Park on Magnolia Hill.  Also has a large Latino population of children; Spanish-speaking teachers and many services in Spanish.

Primarily serves families living in Seattle Housing Authority Housing garden complexes

They will serve others who want to enroll their children in this program if the family is able to transport children to the program.   Currently 90% of children are in immigrant and refugee families, and NH provides family services in the family’s language and has interpreters.

                                                                       

ECEAP

Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program  - very similar to Head Start (serves up to 110% of FPL)
